While I don’t normally use Chrome, any port in a storm seems like a very good idea. This will be interesting since I have used Firefox almost exclusively for several years in both Linux and Windows.

But, if Firefox refuses to start, I really do need a working browser!

Current glibc:glibc.2.12.1.132.el6_5.2.x86_64glibc-common.2.12.1.132.el6_5.2.x86_64glibc-devel.2.12.1.132.el6_5.2.x86_64glibc-headers.2.12.1.132.el6_5.2.x86_64These are the versions that I have downloaded and scp'd over for install: Feb 3 glibc-2.12-1.149.el6_6.5.x86_64Feb 3 glibc-common-2.12-1.149.el6_6.5.x86_64Feb 3 glibc-devel-2.12-1.149.el6_6.5.i686Feb 3 glibc-headers-2.12-1.149.el6_6.5.x86_64Upon trying to install, this is what I am seeing:rpm -ivh glibc-2.12-1.149.el6_6.5.x86_64.rpmwarning: glibc-2.12-1.149.el6_6.5.x86_64.rpm: Header V3 RSA/SHA1 Signature, key ID xxxxxxxx: NOKEYerror: Failed dependencies: glibc-common = 2.12-1.149.el6_6.5 is needed by glibc-2.12-1.149.el6_6.5.x86_64So I then try to install the dependancy:rpm -ivh glibc-common-2.12-1.149.el6_6.5.x86_64.rpmwarning: glibc-common-2.12-1.149.el6_6.5.x86_64.rpm: Header V3 RSA/SHA1 Signature, key ID xxxxxxxx: NOKEYerror: Failed dependencies: glibc = 2.12-1.149.el6_6.5 is needed by glibc-common-2.12-1.149.el6_6.5.x86_64I'm trying to figure out what the issue is here, and why when I try to install the dependency, it itself is dependent on the one I initially tried...

I have a local test vm server that I ssh into and I have been messing about in as well.

When an image or metadata is edited, a folder named "NKSC_PARAM" is created at the same directory level as the original image, and an adjustment file is saved to the folder.

The edited contents are saved to the adjustment file and the metadata of the original image is not edited.

Navigating to Menu – Internet – Firefox has absolutely no visible effect. Without being able to load Firefox, one can’t get to the Internet to check Google!

However, running firefox in Terminal produces the error message: “GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion ‘sys_page_size == 0’ failed ” along with several warnings. My solution was to install Chromium Browser through Package Manager. It is also apparent that, as of 25-May-14 (the last posting on the bug report), no solution has been provided for Mozilla’s Bug 833117. So, for the moment at least, I am in Chrome-evaluation mode.

This requires some basic knowledge of how to overcome the requirement of pkg_config within the GLIB configure process by telling the configure script where to find some things that pkg_config would have given it.

After installing the new release of Linux Mint on my development machine, I found that Firefox won’t start.
